Jacky Radivoy Illustration & Design
My experiences with art began with my teachers and friends admiring and complimenting my work. I took the simple act of coloring in coloring books to a new level and was ever so careful to use the right hues, shades and staying within the lines. Sketching in my sketch book day after day also gave me the experience and free expression to create whatever I wanted. Now my art freely expresses emotion and movement highlighting my unique personality in my illustrations.

My illustrations are frequently created using gouache and watercolor on cold press watercolor paper. The subjects I often choose to illustrate are people in real-life settings. My images focus on quirky, humorous aspects of everyday life. I build up layers of pigment until I have achieved the desired look, using vibrant and rich colors.

As an artist I have admired the career of the children’s book illustrator Martin Handford, the creator of the “Where Is Waldo” book series. His illustrations are a visual fantasy land for the eyes. As a child I remember the engaging and powerful illustrations in my two favorite bedtime stories, “Quick As a Cricket” and “The Napping House,” which written by Audrey Wood and illustrated by her husband Don Wood. These books inspired me to use my imagination. My dream would be to see at a library filled up due date slips in the back of a book illustrated by Jacky Radivoy. To one day see my work at a book store would be the ultimate accomplishment.
